The enchantment continues….
The universe of the Lunar Chronicles holds stories—and secrets—that are wondrous, vicious, and romantic.
With nine stories—five of which have never before been published—and an exclusive never-before-seen excerpt from Marissa Meyer’s upcoming novel, Heartless, about the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland, Stars Above is essential for fans of the bestselling and beloved Lunar Chronicles.
WARNING MAY INCLUDE SPOILER’S SO UNLESS YOU’VE READ THE LUNAR CHRONICALS PROCED AT YOUR OWN RISK.
The Keeper: A prequel to the Lunar Chronicles, showing a young Scarlet and how Princess Selene came into the care of Michelle Benoit— In this story we meet Scarlet and he father when Scar was a young child and how she came to live with her strong willed Grandmother. we also learn how cinder came to be with them and just how much was put into saving this young princess./ I loved learning about Scarlet’s Grandmother because we didn’t have the pleasure to see much of her in the Second book but we learn were Scar’s hardheadedness comes from as well as her loving tendencies.
Glitches: In this prequel to Cinder, we see the results of the plague play out, and the emotional toll it takes on Cinder. Something that may, or may not, be a glitch….— In this novella we finally meet cinder after she was awakened after the numerous surgeries the were required to save her and allow her to live as well as the first few months after moving in with her “new” family/ I love cinder next to Cress she’s my favorite female character. She is strong and fight’s to survive after the death of her “Step-Father” we also meet Iko for the first time and let me just say I NEED ME A FRIEND LIKE IKO because no matter what she is always there for cinder.
The Queen’s Army: In this prequel to Scarlet, we’re introduced to the army Queen Levana is building, and one soldier in particular who will do anything to keep from becoming the monster they want him to be.— Ze’ev “Wolf” Kesley was a twelve year old boy with a very strong will as well as an even stronger body for a boy his age which is what lead him to be picked for the queen’s army/// I love wolf because even with everything thrown at him- being taken from his family, being turned into an “animal”, and having to fight to stay alive in the training camp’s he is still able to stay gentle and caring
Carswell’s Guide to Being Lucky: Thirteen-year-old Carswell Thorne has big plans involving a Rampion spaceship and a no-return trip out of Los Angeles.— Aww “The Captain” seeing how he loved the Rampion even before he ever got his just tickles me. Even though his “plan” to earn enough to get his ship and fly away and become everything he ever wanted to be went a tad sideways you have to admit……He got there.
After Sunshine Passes By: In this prequel to Cress, we see how a nine-year-old Cress ended up alone on a satellite, spying on Earth for Luna.— Now here is my all-time favorite girl from this series. she is so innocent and lives in her fantasy world but she never gives up, she work’s so hard to try to earn Mistress Sibyl’s approval and maybe even some kind of praise of good work
The Princess and the Guard: In this prequel to Winter, we see a game called The Princess and the Guard.— this is the story of how winter stop’s using her gift and the beginning of the repercussions of that decision.
The Little Android: A retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Little Mermaid,” set in the world of The Lunar Chronicles. this story revolves around a droid called Mech6.0 and how like IKO developed a personality and fell in love with a human./ I thought this one was adorable meeting a new character was refreshing
The Mechanic: In this prequel to Cinder, we see Kai and Cinder’s first meeting from Kai’s perspective. so as it states ^ this is literally cinder and kai’s first meeting from his POV and it was soooo cute how he just wanted cinder to see him as a regular teenaged boy not the “the prince and soon to be emperor”
Something Old, Something New: In this epilogue to Winter, friends gather for the wedding of the century…— ok so I almost cried in this one bc come on wedding’s get to the best of us and the couple who got hitched in this story “Le Sigh” so deserved it.
I know I may have repeated myself but all of these stories were so cute and made me want to cuddle them and never let them go so here’s hoping maybe Marissa mayer will do another one of these Novella bind-up’s
